They Walked The Harvest Out
Caught between armed groups, Caicedo's growers could not get their coffee to market. So they moved it together — in convoy, in the open, unarmed. At the El Vaho bridge the town linked arms across the road and refused to let the harvest be taken. They held three times.

Antioquia's governor, Guillermo Gaviria Correa, and his peace adviser Gilberto Echeverri Mejía marched into these hills to stand with the town. Both were kidnapped near that same bridge. They were killed on 5 May 2003.

They Chose It Again, On Paper
Caicedo put non-violence to a public referendum and passed it. The town voted a second time in 2013 to confirm the commitment — after losing people to the conflict, not before. The harvests kept coming in.

Is it true your coffee comes from the first non-violent town in Colombia?
Yes. The O.G. comes from Caicedo, Antioquia — officially the first non-violent municipality in Colombia. It earned that title because of coffee: in 2002 residents linked arms at the El Vaho bridge, unarmed, to stop armed groups seizing their harvest. What is “Cocaine FOR Coffee™”?
Cocaine for Coffee™ is our long-term initiative to support farmers transitioning away from coca production and into coffee cultivation.
Today, that means creating demand: our single-origin Colombian roasts come from growing regions where coffee competes directly with coca, and every bag sold strengthens the case for choosing beans.
As the movement grows, our goal is to deepen community ties and formalize direct support for farming families making the switch — and when that program is established, we'll publish the details right here.
Where is your coffee sourced from?
Our single-origin roasts come from Colombia — the most respected coffee-producing country in the world — grown at high altitude in regions known for rich soil, ideal climate, and exceptional flavor.
The O.G. from Caicedo, Antioquia. The Morning Fix and El Flaco Grande from Ebéjico, Antioquia. ORGANIC Clean Bean from the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. Each product page lists that coffee's specific origin, region, process, and score.
Unfortunately, the same conditions that make our coffee delicious also provide the perfect environment for coca to flourish. It is our goal to help the community decide between the two — and leave cocaine for coffee.
Do you offer USDA Organic coffee?
Yes. ORGANIC Clean Bean is USDA Certified Organic and Fair Trade Certified — single-origin Colombian coffee grown in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. It’s available now. The rest of our lineup is specialty-grade (SCA 84+) but not certified organic — and we say so plainly.
What does SCA 84+ actually mean?
Specialty coffee scores 80+ on the Specialty Coffee Association's 100-point scale, graded by certified Q-graders on aroma, flavor, body, and balance. Our single-origin Colombian roasts all grade 84 or higher — El Flaco Grande sits at 87. Higher scores also mean better prices for farmers, which is the whole point.
Is this brand meant to glorify drugs?
No.
Cocaine Coffee is about ending illegal drug cultivation, not celebrating it. The name sparks conversation — the mission creates change.
The town our first coffee comes from voted twice to declare itself non-violent after losing people to the conflict. We take that seriously, and we'd rather you judged us on where the coffee comes from than on the name.
